Denna didn't answer the general, just watched the exchange between him and Alya. She honestly thought that her fellow Mord-Sith was being a bit stupid and naive. It made her wonder if she fully understood D'Hara's situation. Still, she may well be able to use that to her advantage.

Alya raised an eyebrow. "So am I right in assuming you'll try to take the throne of D'Hara for yourself? You may be a great warrior, but you're no Lord Rahl. And it's not that it's a waste of time. I just happen to be neutral. My loyalty is to whoever next claims the throne, and since nobody has the throne at the moment, my loyalty is to the Mord-Sith that wins the contest."

Janus chuckle about Ayla.
"Listen Mord-Sith for I will not repeat myself."
Janus stand up he were completely serious.
"I have not sat on the throne of D'hara since the Lord Rahl death, I have not announce I am the new Lord Rahl. I am a general nothing more, I will lead D'hara until a new Lord have return to us."
He spoke with annoyance at the questions of Ayla showing his love and loyalty to the House of Rahl.
"And also....."
He sat back down.
"You haven't seen me when I am mad, and what Lord Rahl do to show his "love" to the Mord-Sith. Is nothing to what I show those that fail me, prisoners, enemies and those I just don't like. I was not Rahl commanding general if I were not capable."
He then fold his hands and lean against his chair as he pull out a book from his desk.
"So believe whatever you wish, but use your brain next time you speak."
He say coldly to Ayla his voice were commanding and the guards heard the General voice and even if were not part of the conversation they were afraid.
"You are required to do nothing, least of all believe. Shut one's eyes tight or open one's arms wide, either way, one's a fool."

"Very well then," said Alya. "For your information, I do use my brain when I speak, and Lord Rahl was always unrivalled when it came to anger. Either way, I'm done here now." She turned to leave, then turned back. "Oh, and one more thing. Be careful of yourself." Alya walked out of the room, closing the door harder than necessary.

Denna raised her eyebrows as she watched Alya storm out of the room. Now that she had gone, she could speak to Janus privately. "Once again, I apologise for my friend's behaviour, general. However there is a matter that I would like to discuss with you in private." She hoped that the tricks she used on Alya would have the same effect on the general.

Janus chuckle at the comment of Ayla and then turn his attention to Denna.
"It is alright, I can handle childish people"
He chuckle once again and then stand up from his chair and walk to Denna.
"What do you wish to talk about Mistress Denna?"
He asked her with a small smile upon his face.

Returning a small smile to the general, Denna walked closer to his desk. "General Hassildor, I wish...not to enlist you, that wouldn't be the right word. I was hoping that I could have your help in my conflict against Dahlia. If you were to support me, it would give me a much greater chance of victory. But I wish you to know that I do not want to defeat Dahlia for my own gains, but for the safety and protection of D'Hara." She hoped that this would make the general happy.

"Well," Denna began, "If a civil battle between the Mord-Sith ever broke out, your men would be a great help to whatever side they fight for. If you help me, we can restore order to the land. We will purge D'Hara of Mord-Sith and others who wish to betray it. And then we can hunt down the Seeker." She leaned back from the general. "If we work together, we will accomplish what we were fighting for under Lord Rahl's rule. What say you, general?"

Janus smirk as he look at Denna, he though that she want him for his army.
"So you want me for my army? To use it to your benefit?"
General Hassildor chuckle about that but he admit D'hara need a strong ruler for him to play as Regent he can't have any loose ends even the Mord-Sith.
"Well okay I will help you end this....debate, my soldiers stand at command. But....."
Janus glare at Denna as he spoke with enough hatred, rage to fill the underworld.
"Understand this: I will brook no threat to this nation. From you... or anyone!"

Denna didn't flinch at the rage in Janus' voice, but only just. "Thank you, general. But I do not want to use your army for my benefit, I want to use if for D'Hara's benefit. And I promise that you will have no threat of betrayal from me, or any of the Mord-Sith on my side. But that is not all." She crouched over the desk, so that her face was inches from the general's. "If we are to save D'Hara, I will need your help from something else."

Denna took a deep breathe. This was the most difficult part of asking the general's help. If this didn't go the way she wanted, then it could turn out worse than she had hoped. "Am I correct, general, in assuming that there is a male Confessor in the palace?"

Janus were shock, how in the world does she know about that? He were order before the death of Lord Rahl to keep that quiet, he smug about that.
"Yes....their is. What do you want with the confessor?"
He asked a confessor can be greatly useful for the Mord-Sith and more likely a make. He smirk about that, but he wasn't going to hand the confessor to the Mord-Sith without cause.

From the look on Janus' face, Denna knew she had mentioned something she shouldn't have known about. Hopefully she could work around that. "I heard rumours that there was one here, and I was thinking that if we brought him to our side, it would give us even greater power. He could be used to bring those who would defy D'Hara under our control. Do you not think he would be useful?"
