"Oh, I'm afraid it does matter," Denna said, her patience already starting to wear thin. "Did you not think that you have only heard these mere rumours from the Mord-Sith supporting Dahlia? They only tell you what they want you to hear." Now it was time for Denna to choose her words subtly and carefully, and try to win Alya over to her side.

Sensing a slight impatience to Denna's voice, Alya shifted to a more ready position just in case. "It wasn't just the Mord-Sith, you know. You can't disappear without people noticing." She wouldn't be choosing a side blindly without knowing both sides of the story.

"Wicked people can spread their influence almost anywhere," Denna responded to Alya's remark. "You need to know who you can trust. Dahlia will do whatever is necessary to win your support, and you may be forced to give it against your will. I would not thrust that upon you." Denna would make sure joining her looked a lot better than going to Dahlia.

"You never know what people will do to influence others. Especially one of us. Dahlia could be the one spreading nasty rumours about you, but you could just as easily be spreading rumours about her," Alya replied, not so quick to trust Denna. "But you do have a point," she conceded.

Denna saw that Alya was wise in how she spoke, and thought that this might be harder than she first thought. The last thing Alya said seemed to provide the possibility of joining her, though. "Have you heard anything about me spreading rumours? Do you have any proof of negative rumours about Dahlia?" she asked.

Alya allowed a slight frown to cross her face. "You were just saying that Dahlia could and would force me to join her. Is that not a negative rumour? Where's the fact behind it? You could very well be right, but if you're not, then that would be a problem now, wouldn't it?"

"You don't miss anything, do you?" Denna asked. "I admire that." She knew flattery would only get her so far, but it might help. "I think it is more fact than rumour. Dahlia is ruthless and powerful, and I feel she would do that to you and anyone else. I'm not sure, but I agree: it would be a problem if I was wrong." She would make sure she wasn't though.

Alya nodded a brief acknowledgement of the compliment to Denna, smiling slightly. "She might be powerful, but rumours from further back have it that you're Lord Rahl's best Mord-Sith. Wouldn't that make you more ruthless and powerful than her?"

"Perhaps it does mean that, but it doesn't mean I am unkind. I think you'll see that soon enough." Confident that the seeds if doubt had been lightly sown in Alya's mind, Denna moved on. "But I think we have discussed this and lingered long enough. Shall we see the general?"

"If you say so," said Alya. "But yes, we'll go and see him. She turned away from Denna, careful not to make her movement seem too quick. Then she started off down the hall again, watching the guards carefully.

Denna followed Alya down the hall, glad at how the conversation had turned out. Hopefully she would have the same success with Janus. Arriving at the door with Alya, knowing the guards wouldn't do anything, she knocked on the door of the general's room.

There were four guards guarding the the General's office. The guards look at Alya and then Denna who knock on the door, their hand on their hilt ready to fight. Until one of the guardsman finally speak,
"Yes what do you want, Mord-Sith? General Hassildor is in a meeting."
The guardsman look at Denna more caution of her then Alya only because of appearance.

Alya stared coolly at the guard before answering. "We need to speak with him. Now." She nodded towards the door, wondering if she should try to open it.

Denna noticed how the guards stared at her compared to the looks they gave Alya, but said nothing. She smiled at seeing the cold glare in Alya's eyes. She loved seeing her sisters give people that look, and when she did it herself. When Alya spoke to the guard, she still said nothing, but rested a hand on her Agiel as a warning. She would watch to see what Alya could do.

The guardsman smug, as he glare at Alya.
"I don't see for you to give me orders. My superior is the General not you Mord-Sith. And unless General Hassildor want you to come inside he would have told us Mord-Sith. Now begone."
The guards look at Denna and Alya as they went closer and surround them and then took out their swords just in case.
