The last traces of sunlight were still barely visible behind the trees as Cara walked with Richard through the woods. They were still following the compass on the trail of the Stone of Tears, while Zedd and Kahlan went off on another errand. They were to meet in the nearest town, but for now, it was just Richard and Cara.
If it were up to Cara, she would have said they should keep walking all night. She rarely slept; it was the way of a Mord-Sith. But Richard needed his rest, and besides, it was harder to protect him in the dark.
"We should make camp," she said to him at last.

Richard Rahl
As the sun was going down and evening was settling in Richard was barely in the real world as is mind was with Kahlan and wondering if she was safe.Would Zedd be strong enough to defend her ?as if Kahlan couldn't defend herself, what was he thinking. He then winced and put is left hand on is neck and rubbed it softly as is headache slowly came back.
He was still thinking were would be the Stone of tears as he and Cara were on a trail in the woods as Zedd and Kahlan were on another trail to seek out in another direction the stone. With any luck on of them would get lucky. But Richard didn't like splitting up especially with Kahlan, he never liked the idea but they had to and in doing that Zedd had to go see is brother on the way to the village they would meet to see if they had anything new gathered to get closer to the stone.
Why did the stone slipped away from the underworld in the first place he wondered as is headache got worse when he and Cara walked at a steady pace on the trail.Looking up at the sky he realized it was dark when Cara said to him that they should make camp.
Looking back at her he smiled at her and replied,"You' re right we should lets find a secure place so we won't be found by any unwanted renegade or soldiers"and let a small smirk then got serious right away and looked around and continued ,"Were do you think we should camp ?"

Cara also hated when they were separated from Kahlan. This was because she could tell that Richard was thinking about Kahlan the whole time, and that made him distracted. Really, Richard would be much stronger if he would learn to suppress his emotions, the way she did. As a Mord-Sith, of course, the emotions had been trained out of her. Well, maybe they were there, beneath the surface, but she could control them. Richard had not yet learned how to do that, and it was a weakness.
At Richard's question, she frowned and looked around. She knew there was a stream nearby, and that would be the least protected place they could go. It was too open; too easy to find them. But they would need water, so they shouldn't camp too far away from it, either.
"It looks like there's a small clearing up ahead," she said, pointing. "There's also some dense undergrowth around it, so it should make it harder to spot us from there."

Richard looked were Cara was looking as she pointed out the clearing and smiled as he nodded and replied to her comment on the dense undergrowth ,"That is perfect "
Going into the clearing he went toward the biggest tree close to the the undergrowth and place is pack sac behind a bush and said to Cara as he straitened up.
"I'll go get some woods near by and before you want to follow me don't worry I won't leave the perimeter" giving her a smile mixed with a winced as he rubbed is neck as is headache was intensifying to the worse level he ever had.But with Deena"s workout he learned to control pain but at times it was excruciating to endure..
He sat down for a minute put is head between is legs and took deep breaths and said,"Don't worry it will pass give me a couple of minutes."hoping the headache would get better.
He hoped that Cara would understand and let him be for he knew she was very protective of him and Kahlan .Yes Kahlan how was she doing ? he asked himself as he tried to slow down the pain in is skull.

Cara understood, but she didn't like it. She recognized the telltale signs of another one of Rochard's headaches, and although she might not use the word, she was worried. Even as a Mord-Sith trained to withstand terrible pain, Cara didn't like to see the Lord Rahl in pain. Yes, he'd been trained by Denna to endure pain, but pain like that could distract him or lessen his abilities to focus on the task at hand, especially if they were ambushed. Without Kahlan and Zedd, Cara was alone to protect Richard.
"They're getting worse, aren't they?" she asked knowingly, frowning down at him. "Richard, you can't keep going on like this."
Maybe the witch woman Shota was right; Richard should abandon his quest and Zedd should name a new Seeker. Of course, if this happened, Cara wasn't quite sure where she would stand. Her loyalty was to Richard as the Lord Rahl. She did not have the same loyalty to some other Seeker.
"Maybe I should send a message to Zedd and Kahlan."

Richard looked up at her and shook is head saying,"Yes they are getting worse and no we can't keep going like this but we must we can't slow down or if you have any other options I am all ears."Rubbing is neck he got u and continued,"Now for the moment it's better and I'll go get some wood to make fire."
Looking at Cara carefully Richard then said,"What are you thinking? just by your expression it isn't good and don't tell me otherwise."He knew that Cara as a Mord-Sith learned to hide her feelings and expressions she could have on her face but Richard with time started to know her and saw some characteristics she may never realized people with good observation could see and Richard was one of them.
As he was waiting an answer he heard what Cara said and replied back,"Cara how long do you think it would to get to Zedd and Kahlan the message telling them I have headaches,no we can't risk it to let any soldiers or bounty hunters or sisters of darkness have a trail back to us it's to dangerous. As much as I want them with us it is a risk for all of us."
"Now let's get some wood and eat something and try to figure out what are we going to do next alright."looking at her with a smile

Well, Cara could hardly blame him for wanting to work through the pain. That's what she would have done, after all. Richard wasn't the type to just sit back and complain about his troubles, and that was one of the things she respected about him. She might have even said "liked" if such words didn't imply an emotional connection.
"All right," she said. "I heard the sound of running water nearby, I think there's a stream. I can get us some water and see if I can catch a fish. You stay close to the camp and work on the fire."
She didn't really like leaving Richard. He had a tendency to get into trouble when he was alone. Either D'Harans would attack, or some innocent civilian would always happen to just wander by and desperately need his help with something. Honestly, it was a wonder sometimes that he ever got anything done. He was too soft-hearted, and one day he would have to learn that he couldn't save everyone.
But in spite of her reservations, she knew they needed supplies, and the stream sounded like it was close. She hadn't wanted to camp too close to it, because it would be too easy to find them, but she was pretty sure she would at least be within earshot in case anything happened.
"I'll be back soon," she said, and headed off in the direction of the stream.

Richard
His headache was coming back but it was not hurting as much as in the afternoon as he replied to her comment,"Don't worry you know me" and made a smile mixed with a wince. But with is hand he motioned Cara to go on to what she was about to do,he knew she didn't like him to be alone but for him that was time out to be to himself and to have some privacy.
He nodded as Cara told him she would be back soon and started to get wood for the fire as is mind wandered to Kahlan and wondered how she was and did Zedd took care of her.Looking up at Cara as she went toward the stream he sighed and hoped that Zedd and Kahlan were alright.
The fire was well on it's way as he sat down in front of it trying to concentrate to get is headache down and preparing something to eat as he waited for Cara to return.

Richard
Sitting in front of the fire as he started to prepare the meal Richard taught of the road that led him up to were he was now,how he met Kahlan and on what circumstance and the fact he was kept from the truth from who he really was because a death treath over is head because of who he was.
As he put water to boil he smiled to himself remembering how Zedd explained to him awkwardly who he was with Kahlan behind the old man trying her best not to tell him herself.Shaking is head he grinned when is memories saw Zedd saying,"I tried my best to keep you safe from Darken Rahl but no thanks to miss confessor here, here I give the way to the seeker."
Leaning is back on a tree and closing is eyes as he put is head in is hands as is elbows were resting on is knees he wondered how did they get throw all of these devious attacks on him ,Kahlan and Zedd and but pure chance and faith and trust between them and the who trusted them vanquisd Rahl.
But now they were on another quest the Stone of Tear were will they find it. before anything really bad happens to the people of the land.He then moved to the fire to put some vegetables in the boiling water so he and Cara would eat a good soup.

Rose walked through the woods, trying to move as silently as possible. She had been tracking the Seeker and his friends for a while. They had split up a while back. A man and a woman's sets of footprints went south, and a different man's and woman's footprints went east. It took her a moment to decide which tracks to follow, but one of the women's footprints matched the shape of her Mord-Sith boot. Cara had sworn to protect the new Lord Rahl, the Seeker. She wouldn't leave him. Rose took the east path, following the Mord-Sith tracks. That had been earlier this morning. The sun was now setting, and she would soon loose the trail in the dark. She wasn't tired, she didn't need to sleep, so she could cover a few more miles in the dark and possibly catch up to them. On the other hand, she could accidentally pass them or loose their trail. It was a gamble, and Rose didn't like the odds. Trusting her instincts, she continued hiking through the woods, praying to the Creator that she would find them soon.
The sun was almost completely set and Rose was getting worried that she wouldn't be able to catch up. She heard a river running through the woods on her right side. Deciding that she would need a drink soon, she walked parallel to it, knowing that she would at least be able to use it to backtrack if she got lost. Squinting her eyes to see better in the fading light, she scanned the path up ahead of her. There was nothing interesting that she could-
There!
About a hundred paces ahead of her she could dimly see light shining through the trees. Like a fire. Rose walked faster, trying to avoid running and startling whoever it was. 'Please let it be the Seeker,' she thought silently, 'please please please let it be him' The distance between her and the light quickly vanished, until she was standing on the outer edges of the clearing. She said a silent thank-you prayer to the Creator. It was the Seeker, now the reigning Lord Rahl. He was tending to a pot of boiling water over the fire, dropping vegetables into it.
Purposely stepping on twigs and snapping them, Rose walked into the clearing. She kept her hands at her sides and away from her ageil. She didn't want him to think she was there to hurt him. "Hello, Seeker," she said carefully, "It's an honor to meet you."

Richard
Richard wasn't a fool even before the woman even made noises with the twigs and branches he felt a presence near by that wasn't within the woods regular where about and when the person made noises he knew that it was someone who wanted is attention.
Looking up at the woman who was in front of him by a couple of feet away he looked into her eyes and spoke,"Hello and who do I owe the pleasure? as he focused on is instincts and what he learned of the Mord-Sith if this one wanted to harm him."What brings you here ? and alone. If it's got to do with me well sit down and talk about it and see what you want we can work things out"
He hoped she wouldn't get to nervous and try anything to get herself hurt and also where did she come from ? usually Mord-Sith would go in groups why was this one alone?.
"Stirring the water he asked her,"Why aren't you with other Mord-Sith usually you travel in groups of four if I'm not mistaken."looking up at her wondering what was going through her mind"

The corner of Rose's mouth twitched, as if she wanted to smile, but couldn't. 'Seeker of Truth indeed,' she thought, 'I've been in his presence for no more than thirty seconds and he's already asked more questions than he's said sentences.' "My name is Rose. As for why I'm alone, it's because I don't think the Sisters of the Ageil would appreciate my being here." Rose crossed into the clearing, and sat down cross-legged across from the Seeker. "Besides, my mistress thinks I'm tracking down a rouge group of D'Haran soldiers that deserted. It's likely they'll never be found. I came here instead. I have some important matters to discuss with you and your...friends." The word tasted odd on her tongue. She didn't have friends anymore. She didn't even have the other Mord-Sith to count as friends. There were no such things as friends in their eyes.
Ignoring the bitter feelings that were swelling in her, she continued, "I was hoping that I could discuss this with the Wizard Zeddicus, but it seems that your group has broken up." She began pulling up a weed at her side and tearing the leaves into little pieces. "But I guess I would be asking for too much if I did. But if it's not too much trouble, I would like for us to wait for Cara to return before we continue. Is that agreeable to you, Seeker?"

Richard
Richard wasn't surprised of her reaction as she told her name just by the way her facial expression told him that she did mock him as the seeker as to asking questions, but for him it was in is nature to do so to learn or to know who he was up against. He wasn't a big talker he opened is mouth when it was time or when he had to..
Giving her a small smile Richard then said,"Well Rose my name Richard not seeker and as for your sisters not appreciate you being here it's a matter of opinion wouldn't you say "as he looked on as she came across the clearing and sat in front of him on the other side of the fire..
Richard crossed is arms as she spoke and taught about what she just told him as he studied her,she had the red uniform and her agiel and she was slender with light brown hair braided the usual way Mord-Sith would comb them.
"Important matters and what kind of important matters could that be especially for us."as he saw he uneasiness about something.Richard nodded when she mentioned Zedd and replied,"Zedd can be of help and why do you think we broke up?and as for Cara why do you think she's with us? And my name is Richard not seeker."

Rose nodded. “All right, then; Richard.” It felt odd to call someone by their name without a title. Richard. Just Richard. Not Master Richard or Lord Richard. Just Richard. It would take her a while to get used to that. She picked up another leaf and began shredding it like she had the weed. “I know about Cara. All of the Mord-Sith know about her. She was exiled.” She paused a moment, continuing to tear the leaf apart. She didn’t look Richard in the eye. She couldn’t. It didn’t feel right for her to look someone higher in rank than her in the eye. Instead, she spoke to the leaf she was tearing. “A few weeks we heard about the Mother Confessor holding a trial for a Mord-Sith who had returned home and had been arrested. Who else could it be but Cara? The rest of us were either at the People’s Palace or one of our temples. The Mother Confessor spared her life. The only place she would’ve gone is with you. She declared her loyalty to the new Lord Rahl, you, back at the Palace.”
She tossed the stem of the leaf to the side, picked up a new one and continued, “You misunderstood me when I said that your group broke up. I meant that you had only separated for the time being. I have tracked you for two days. I saw that your group of four tracks separated into two sets of two tracks earlier this morning. It took me a moment to figure out who went which way. She paused, trying to choose the right words, “One of the tracks, a woman’s, matched the shape of my own boot. Mord-Sith boots leave a distinct track, and since Cara has sworn to protect Lord Rahl, she would not have left you. Thus, you and Cara went south and the Wizard Zorander and the Mother Confessor went east.” Satisfied that she made her point, she flung the second stem off to the side and stared at the fire. “I don’t like to talk much, and I would rather not have to explain myself twice, but you are welcome to ask me more questions while we wait for Cara’s return. This is something I would rather not have to re-tell twice.” She waited patiently for the Seek- Richard’s questions. His curiosity seemed endless, and Rose was slightly amused by his never-ending questions. If nothing else, it felt good to talk to someone who would listen to what she had to say, and to be able to say it without having restrictions put on her.

Cara hadn't gone very far. As it turned out, the stream was closer than she'd thought, and she soon caught a glimpse of it up ahead as she made her way through the underbrush and fallen leaves. She just hoped she'd be able to catch a few fish as quickly as it took her to find the stream.
But when she got there, she was disappointed. It really wasn't more than a narrow stream, and from the looks of it, it was pretty shallow. The chances of catching any fish here were unlikely at best. Sighing softly to herself, she bent down on the bank and cupped her hands to dip into the water. The water was cold, at least, and as she took a drink, she determined it would at least be good for something. She took out their canteens and refilled them with the fresh, clean water of the stream.
Since fishing was out of the question, Cara was going to have to hunt for their dinner. She hadn't brought her bow and arrow, just her agiels, so she was going to have to return to the camp.
Following her own tracks, she made her way back to where Richard was waiting for her. But as she got closer, she heard voices--Richard's, and then someone else's. A feminine voice.... and it didn't sound like Kahlan.
Pulling out her agiels, Cara rushed into the camp area and stared at the woman sitting there... one of her Mord-Sith sisters.
"Rose? What are you doing here? Richard, are you OK?"
